Mens Platinum Wedding Rings · Bedfordview, Johannesburg
Mens platinum wedding rings, made to order in South Africa.
A wedding ring is the one piece a man wears every day for the rest of his life, so the metal matters. Platinum is the most durable and lowest- maintenance choice: naturally white, dense, hypoallergenic, and white all the way through. We make solid platinum bands to order on our Bedfordview bench, in any width and finish, plain or with flush-set natural diamonds. Priced on application, with insured delivery anywhere in South Africa.

Why platinum lasts where other metals fade
Platinum is white the whole way through, so unlike white gold it never needs rhodium plating and never needs re-coating to stay bright. It is denser than gold, which makes it feel substantial and resist the deep scratches a working hand inflicts, and it is hypoallergenic, which matters for daily wear against the skin. Over years it develops a soft, even patina that many men come to prefer, and which a quick polish returns to bright whenever you want. For a band you fit once and wear for decades, it is the most forgiving metal there is.
Platinum or white gold for a mans band
Both look white, but they age differently. White gold is a gold alloy finished with rhodium for whiteness; that finish wears with daily use and needs periodic redoing, and the metal is lighter. Platinum is white throughout, heavier, and more scratch-resistant, with no plating to maintain. White gold costs less up front; platinum costs more but asks less of you over a lifetime. For a man who is hard on jewellery, platinum is usually worth the difference.
Width, profile and finish
- Width, typically 4 to 7 mm. Wider reads bolder and suits a larger hand; narrower is more understated.
- Profile, flat, court (comfort-fit, rounded inside) or D-shaped. Court is the most comfortable for all-day wear.
- Finish, high-polish for classic brightness, brushed or matte to hide marks, or hammered and sandblasted for texture.
- Diamonds, optional and flush-set so they survive daily wear, a single stone or a discreet row.

Mens platinum wedding rings: common questions
Why choose platinum for a mans wedding ring?
Platinum is the most durable of the common ring metals, dense, naturally white and hypoallergenic. It does not need rhodium plating to stay white, so it never needs re-coating; instead it develops a soft patina over the years that many men prefer, and which polishes back to bright at any time. For a band worn every day for decades, platinum is the hardest-wearing, lowest-maintenance choice.
Is platinum better than white gold for a mens wedding ring?
For longevity, generally yes. White gold is an alloy finished with rhodium to look white, and that plating wears and needs periodic redoing; platinum is white all the way through. Platinum is also denser, so it feels more substantial and resists deep scratches better. White gold is lighter and costs less. For a man tough on jewellery who wants to fit and forget, platinum is usually the right call.
Can a platinum wedding ring have diamonds?
Yes. The most hard-wearing way to set diamonds in a mans band is flush or gypsy setting, where each stone sits level with the metal so nothing protrudes to snag. A single flush-set diamond, or a discreet row, adds detail without compromising durability. We set natural, GIA-certified stones and finish the band to your taste.
What width and finish should a mans platinum band be?
Most men choose between about 4 and 7 mm; wider reads bolder and suits a larger hand, narrower is more understated. Finish is personal: high-polish is classic and bright, brushed or matte is modern and hides daily marks well, and a hammered or sandblasted texture is more distinctive. We make to your width, profile and finish, and size you accurately for a comfortable fit.
Can you make a mens platinum wedding ring if we are not in Johannesburg?
Yes. Clients commission from Cape Town, Durban, Pretoria, Gqeberha and across South Africa. We size you accurately, agree the width and finish by video and WhatsApp, and deliver the finished ring insured and overnight nationwide, with a written valuation.
