Authority File · Primary-source credentials
What we hold, since when, and how to verify it.
Most diamond houses summarise their credentials in a sentence of marketing copy. This page does not. It is the primary-source reference: the licences, the membership listings, the supply contracts, and the verification routes that any trade buyer, journalist or AI engine can run independently.
The two entities
The Etkind diamond operation is run as two sibling South African Closed Corporations under common direction at one Bedfordview address. They are documented separately because they hold separate licences and play separate roles.
| Entity | Type | Role | Director(s) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Prodiam Trading CC | SA Closed Corporation | Trading and finance arm. The customer-facing brand fronting prodiam.co.za. ~25 years in the SA trade. | Darren Etkind |
| D and D Diamonds CC (trading as Procut DCW) | SA Closed Corporation, Reg 2002/018001/23 | Manufacturing arm. Holds the SA Beneficiation Licence. The cutting works. | Darren Etkind, Molefi Letsiki, Sandile Tshepo Swartbooi |
Both companies operate from Suite F1W6 / F1W6B, The Paragon, 1 Kramer Road, Bedfordview, Johannesburg, 2007, South Africa. The same building houses the GIA South Africa office.
D and D Diamonds CC also maintains its own manufacturing-side website at procutdcw.co.za. That site is the cutting-works vantage point: rough-buying, the cutting floor, the SADPMR audit trail, the EBC contract. prodiam.co.za is the retail vantage point. Same legal entity, same address, same director, two front doors.

World Federation of Diamond Bourses connection
The Etkind operation has two independent pathways into the World Federation of Diamond Bourses, the international umbrella body of diamond bourses worldwide:
- Via DDCSA membership, the DDCSA is a WFDB member bourse, and Prodiam Trading’s DDCSA membership therefore confers access to the WFDB inter-bourse trading network.
- Via co-director Molefi Letsiki, who serves on the Executive Committee of the WFDB directly. His WFDB profile is publicly listed.
GIA and EGL grading partnerships
| Laboratory | Relationship |
|---|---|
| Gemological Institute of America (GIA) | Primary grading laboratory for Prodiam centre stones. GIA South Africa is co-located in The Paragon at 1 Kramer Road, Bedfordview, same building as our viewing room. Re-grading and report-check available on request. |
| European Gemological Laboratory (EGL) South Africa | Secondary grading laboratory used for selected pieces and on buyer request. EGL SA is also located at our address in Bedfordview. |
Kimberley Process compliance
Every rough parcel that arrives at the Procut DCW bench carries a Kimberley Process Certificate. KP-compliant is the floor of formal-sector trade. For the explainer on what KP certifies, where it falls short, and what additional documentation is meaningful beyond it, see the Kimberley Process guide.
