We source natural diamonds across shapes, sizes and grades, with GIA or EGL reports, and cut and polish selected stones in-house. Some diamonds are presented privately; ask us about the size and specification you want. Tell us what you want and we confirm the options, price and viewing timeframe.

What you see is a working selection, never the full range: far more crosses the bench than we publish, and a number of higher-value stones are shown privately rather than listed. If the exact spec you want is not above, brief us on it and it can be sourced to order and quoted as one landed rand figure. That is how most of our diamonds actually sell.

Some of these we cut on our own bench in Johannesburg, others we buy in polished at trade terms. Either way there is no importer and no retail counter in the price, and we tell you which route your stone took. Natural stones only, in any size we cut or source to order.

How our in-house diamonds are cut and polished

  1. 1 Rough sourced direct from a De Beers DBCM viewing in Johannesburg, or from SA tender houses at Kimberley, Wolmaransstad, Schweizer Reneke, or the State Diamond Trader.
  2. 2 Polished in-house on our Bedfordview bench in Bedfordview. Round brilliants cut to GIA Excellent; fancies cut to optimised proportions for the rough on hand.
  3. 3 Certified by the GIA. Cert PDF available per stone on request.
  4. 4 Kimberley Process documented from rough to polished. Beneficiation Licence audited under the SA Diamonds Act 1986.
  5. 5 Sold and delivered by Prodiam Trading, either through a trade account or by private viewing in Bedfordview, with full paperwork and insured overnight courier delivery anywhere in South Africa.

A stone we buy in polished skips steps 1 and 2: it arrives graded, and we show you its laboratory report and say where it came from. Ask about any stone and we will tell you which of the two routes it took.

Use this catalogue to compare individual stones and ask the desk to confirm their availability. Some diamonds are cut in-house and others sourced through the certified trade. Are loose diamonds cheaper than a diamond already set in a ring?

A loose-diamond price covers the stone, while a finished ring also includes its setting, metal and making. Add those costs before comparing the total purchase. Buying the stone first lets you inspect it and its grading report before choosing a setting. Prodiam can quote to set your chosen diamond into a ring or pendant.

Do your loose diamonds come with a GIA certificate?

The grading laboratory and report details are shown for each catalogue stone. Choose a GIA-graded listing if you specifically want a GIA report, and ask for the report before settlement. Check the number with the issuing laboratory and compare any laser inscription with the diamond. A grading report and a document establishing geographical origin are different things; ask what documentation exists for the stone you choose.

How much do loose diamonds cost, and can I see the price?

Listed rand prices include VAT. Where a listing shows price on application, ask the desk for a written quote for that specific stone. Carat, cut, colour, clarity, the individual diamond and market conditions affect the figure. Confirm availability and the complete current price before committing; a jewellery setting is additional.

Can I buy a loose diamond remotely if I am not in Johannesburg?

Yes. Most national buyers never set foot in Bedfordview. You receive the GIA report, high-resolution loupe photography and a 360° video, then a live video viewing of the stone under microscope. After FICA verification and ZAR EFT settlement, the diamond is dispatched insured overnight via Brink’s or G4S, with a 7-day Consumer Protection Act inspection window on unset stones.
