Most ProJewel pieces start as a brief, not a catalog click. A stone you saw, an heirloom you want reset, an engagement ring built around a centre we cut for you. Designed and made on the Bedfordview bench by the same hand from rough to ring. The pieces below are recent work, not the limit of what we make.

De Beers DBCM Emerging Beneficiation Customer since 2019. DGJASA (formerly the DDCSA) bourse member. SADPMR-licensed. Procut DCW polishes with rounds regularly earning the GIA Excellent cut grade. Stones are certified by GIA or EGL.

What ProJewel makes.

ProJewel makes any fine diamond jewellery a buyer can specify. These are the pieces the bench commissions most often; the list is not exhaustive. Centre stones come off the Procut DCW bench; calibrated sides are matched in-house; metal lots are single-source per piece. It is the cutter-direct end of our wider fine and luxury diamond jewellery, and every piece is made to order from the brief up.

ProJewel: common questions.

How is ProJewel jewellery priced?

Per commission, not from a catalogue. Every piece is made to order, so the diamond, the metal and the manufacturing are quoted separately in a firm ZAR figure, excl. VAT, before any work begins. That is why the pieces on this page show no fixed rand price: two briefs are never identical. Because the centre stone is cut in-house at Procut DCW, the stone portion is priced wholesale-direct rather than at a retail markup.

Can I buy a piece exactly as shown on this page?

Sometimes, and the reserve button is the way to find out: it locks the piece for 72 hours and Darren confirms availability directly. These are recent bench pieces, though, so most buyers commission the design remade around their own spec, the same setting with a different carat weight, colour grade or metal, quoted per brief.

How long does a jewellery commission take?

Most commissions run about three to five weeks from approved brief to finished piece: stone selection, design sign-off, casting, setting, hand-polishing and quality control under loupe. It can be faster when the centre stone is already on the bench. Give us your deadline in the brief and we will tell you honestly whether it is achievable.

Where do the diamonds in ProJewel pieces come from?

From our own bench. Prodiam buys rough at De Beers DBCM viewings and South African tender houses, cuts and polishes it in-house at Procut DCW in Bedfordview, and sets the finished stones on the same premises. Centre stones carry GIA or EGL certificates that travel with the piece, and calibrated side stones are matched in-house within one colour and one clarity grade.
