Diamond Wedding & Eternity Rings · Bedfordview, Johannesburg
Diamond wedding and eternity rings, made on our Bedfordview bench.
A diamond wedding ring is only as good as the match between its stones, and matching is what a cutting house does that a retailer cannot. Every Prodiam diamond eternity ring and diamond wedding band is made to order in our Bedfordview, Johannesburg workshop, with the diamonds cut at Procut DCW and matched in-house within one colour and one clarity grade across the band. These are diamond-set bands — full and half eternity, channel-set, shared-claw, U-set and pavé — in 18k white, yellow or rose gold and platinum. GIA-certified natural diamonds, matched to your engagement ring on request, priced on application, with insured delivery anywhere in South Africa.

Construction: channel, shared-claw, U-set and pavé
The construction sets how much light reaches the diamonds, how the band wears next to an engagement ring, and how it holds up to daily knocks. These are diamond-set bands, and we make the four classic diamond constructions to order, in full or half eternity:
- Channel-set — the diamonds run inside two walls of metal with no claws, flush and snag-free. The most secure and the kindest construction for an active hand, and the cleanest line next to a solitaire engagement ring.
- Shared-claw — adjacent stones share claws, so the diamonds sit closer with little metal between them and more light into each stone. A brighter, more continuous line than channel, on a band that still wears well every day.
- U-set (scalloped) — each diamond cradled in a U-shaped seat that lifts it and opens the sides, so light enters from below as well as above. A delicate, sparkling band that reads larger than its carat weight.
- Pavé — many tiny diamonds bead-set close together over the surface, for a near-continuous field of light. The most diamond per millimetre, suited to a dress eternity ring rather than the hardest daily wear.
A full eternity ring carries diamonds the whole way around; a half eternity sets the top half only, with plain metal under the finger — easier to resize, kinder underneath, and the more practical choice for an everyday wedding band. We do not make pressure-set bands, where the stones are held by tension alone: on a ring you wear every day, the security of a claw, channel or seat matters more than the trick of a floating stone.
Stones matched and calibrated across the band
On an eternity band the eye does not read any single diamond — it reads the line. One stone a shade warmer, or one a little cloudier, and the whole band looks uneven under light. Because we cut and grade the diamonds ourselves at Procut DCW, we match every diamond in a Prodiam wedding or eternity band within one colour grade and one clarity grade, and calibrate them to the same diameter so the band reads as a single continuous run of light. Cut grade is enforced on every stone, not just a centre, and the match is checked under loupe and on the daylight tray before anything is set. A chain jeweller buys a finished band in; we build yours from a parcel of stones we cut, which is the only way to guarantee the match — and the only way to match the band cleanly to the side stones already in your engagement ring.
Carat weights, stone sizes and metals
| Choice | What we make to order |
|---|---|
| Fine half-eternity wedding band | Small matched calibrated stones across the top half, a discreet line of light beside a solitaire, built for daily wear |
| Classic eternity band | Larger calibrated stones, full or half, the most-requested wedding-band and anniversary weight in South Africa |
| Statement / anniversary eternity | Substantial calibrated stones full the way around, the milestone or upgrade piece, quoted on the brief |
| Construction | Channel-set, shared-claw, U-set or pavé; full eternity or half eternity |
| Metals | 18k white gold, yellow gold, rose gold, or platinum — matched to your engagement ring where required |
| Certification | GIA / EGL certified natural diamonds, matched and graded by the bench across the band; any larger feature stone supplied with its own report |
You set the total carat weight and stone size against your budget and your finger size; we calibrate the individual stone so the line stays even and the spacing sits correctly around the band. Round brilliants are polished to GIA Excellent cut grade on our own bench. Pricing is on application — the diamonds drive the figure, and a half eternity will always sit below a full one of the same stones, because it carries fewer. You receive a firm ZAR quote before any work begins.

A wedding or eternity band sits in the same made-to-order house as our custom engagement rings; if you want the ring and band designed together as one piece, see bridal-set design, and for finished work to start from, the Eternity collection. If you would rather begin with the stones, see the loose diamonds we currently have on the bench. When you are ready, brief us on the band and Darren will come back within 24 hours.
Diamond wedding and eternity rings: common questions
How much does a diamond eternity ring cost in South Africa?
There is no single figure, because a diamond eternity ring is priced on the diamonds it carries — the total carat weight, and the colour, clarity and cut grade you choose across the band — then the metal and the construction. A half-eternity ring costs less than a full one of the same stones, because it carries fewer diamonds. You pay a wholesale-direct stone price, because the diamonds are cut and matched in-house at Procut DCW rather than bought in and marked up. We quote a firm ZAR figure on application, before any work begins.
What is the difference between a full and a half eternity ring?
A full eternity ring carries diamonds the whole way around the band, an unbroken line of light from every angle. A half eternity ring sets diamonds across the top half only, with plain metal under the finger. A half-eternity costs less, is easier to resize and is kinder on the underside of the finger for daily wear, which is why many wedding bands are made as half eternities. A full eternity is the classic anniversary or milestone piece. We make both, in any of our constructions.
Can you match a wedding band to my engagement ring?
Yes — this is routine for a cutting house. We match the wedding band to your engagement ring so it sits flush at the shoulder without a gap, in the same metal and to the same finger size, and we match the side diamonds within one colour and one clarity grade so the two rings read as a pair. If the engagement ring was made on our own bench the original CAD file is on record, which makes the match exact. For a ring and band designed together from the start, see our bridal-set design.
Do you make plain wedding bands?
Prodiam is a diamond cutting house, so our trade is diamond-set bands — channel-set, shared-claw, U-set and pavé eternity and wedding bands, not plain metal-only rings. If you want a matched engagement-ring-and-wedding-band set, including a plain or lightly-set partner band designed alongside the engagement ring, that is handled through our bridal-set design service, where the bench can include a plain partner band as part of the commission. Our focus is the diamond-set band itself.
Are the diamonds in the band GIA certified?
The diamonds are GIA or EGL certified natural diamonds, cut at Procut DCW. On an eternity or wedding band the value sits in the many small calibrated side stones rather than a single centre, so these are supplied matched and graded by our bench within one colour and one clarity grade across the band, rather than each carrying its own individual report. Any larger feature stone is supplied with its own GIA or EGL certificate, and a written insurance valuation is included with every band.
Can I order a wedding or eternity band from outside Johannesburg?
Yes — clients commission from Cape Town, Durban, Pretoria, Gqeberha and across South Africa. The brief, the stone-grade conversation and finger sizing happen by video or WhatsApp, you approve the carat weight, metal and construction, and the finished band is delivered insured and overnight nationwide via Brink’s or G4S. A written valuation for insurance is included. If we are matching a band to an existing ring, we talk you through a simple measurement so the fit is right.
