Every viewing at De Beers, every stone on the bench, every commission and trade-account decision passes across one desk. That is the only honest way to say wholesale.
The owner-director (B.Comm, University of the Witwatersrand) is the Key Individual on the D and D Diamonds DBCM EBC contract, the named member at the Diamond Dealers Club of South Africa, and the person who attends viewings, sits at the bench and signs across the polished stones to buyers. Self-employed in the SA fine-diamond trade since January 1995, with an eight-year concurrent stint (1995–2003) as Rough Diamond Buyer at Protea Diamonds. Co-directors Molefi Letsiki and Sandile Tshepo Swartbooi sit on the D and D Diamonds CC board.
Most of the rough now comes through the De Beers DBCM viewing room as part of the Emerging Beneficiation Customer contract (since 2019); the rest from independent SA diggers Prodiam has worked with for three decades. Polished at the Procut DCW bench in Bedfordview, the same building as GIA South Africa.
