Natural diamond, never lab-grown
Round brilliants cut to the Excellent class
Polish and symmetry Very Good or better
No I-grade clarity listings, sane proportions, real listed prices, and suspicious below-market pricing screened out
These are hand-picked on the certificate: the cut, polish, symmetry, colour and
clarity Prodiam will stand behind on paper. We have not had these
stones in our hands, because they sit with the supplier until one is ordered, and
we check every one properly when it lands. Switch to the full market if you would
rather look yourself, and
ask us about anything you find.
Want a diamond in your hand this week? These are sourced in, so they
take a few days to arrive. We also have plenty sitting in our safe in Bedfordview that
you can come and look at.

Searching the certified market
No diamonds match that exact spec.
Loosen a filter (widen the carat range, drop the colour or
clarity a grade, or lift the price ceiling) or send us the
spec and we will hand-source it for you.
Tell us your spec and we will quote within 24 hours.
Nothing on the bench matches that exact spec. Tell us what you
are after, shape, carat, colour, clarity, cut and budget, and he
goes through the certified inventory by hand and comes back with
real options and what each one costs.
Every price shown is a real ZAR figure (current market plus today's
exchange rate, our margin built in) and every diamond is certified
natural, never lab-grown. Before any stone reaches this page it
passes the Procut Screen: our bench's quality gate covering
certification, cut class on rounds, polish and symmetry, clarity
floors, sane proportions, honest pricing and declared fluorescence.
Stones that fail are not shown at a discount. They are not shown at
all.
Not sure where to start? That is completely normal.
Most people buying a diamond are doing it for the first time, and the whole thing can feel
like a lot. You do not need to know your colour from your clarity before you talk to us.
Tell us roughly what you are after and what you would like to spend, and we will do the
hard part with you. There is no pressure and no obligation, and we would genuinely rather
you asked than guessed.
Not everything has to be ordered in. There is real stock sitting in Bedfordview that
you are welcome to come and look at properly, under a loupe, in daylight, with someone
who can explain what you are seeing. Some of it is on
the loose diamonds page, but that page is only a slice
of what is in the safe, so the quickest answer is always to
ask us what we have. Come past
and take a look, or message first and we will have a few ready for you.
We read the report before you buy, and the stone before you keep it
Be clear on what is what. Anything in our safe in Bedfordview you can see on the loupe
yourself, with us, before you spend a cent. Anything on this page is sourced: it sits with
the supplier until it is ordered, so nobody can put it under a loupe today, and we will not
pretend otherwise.
What we do instead is read the certificate properly. Where the inclusions sit, whether the
fluorescence is likely to turn it hazy, whether the proportions add up. We ask the supplier
for more images where they exist. And when the stone lands here we check it before it goes
to you, so nothing arrives that we would not have bought ourselves.
Ask us about a stone,
or put it to the AI assistant on this page, which reads these reports all day.
Buy the stone, then let us mount it
Plenty of people buy the diamond first and decide on the setting later, and that is a perfectly
good way to do it. Once the stone is yours, tell us what you have in mind and the same bench
that does all our own work will build it around that stone. Ring, pendant, earrings, a remake
of something you have seen.
Talk to us about a setting.
Review the report before ordering a sourced stone
A sourced diamond sits with our supply partner, so Prodiam has not yet inspected it
in person. Start with its laboratory report: the listed measurements,
grade and proportion on this page comes off that certificate, and the report number is
yours to check with the lab before you pay anything. If that feels like a lot to take
on trust, that is fair enough:
send us the stone and we will
tell you honestly what we make of it first.
A sourced stone cannot come back
Once we buy one in for you it is yours, so there is no refund or exchange on a sourced
diamond. We would far rather you took another week and asked us five more questions
than felt rushed into it. If you want to be certain before you commit,
talk it through with us.
That is exactly what we are here for, and it costs you nothing.
Sourcing takes a little time
These stones travel from wherever they are sitting. Each card shows the working days
that particular one needs, and you can sort the whole list by what arrives soonest.
If you need a diamond in your hand this week, that means our own stock instead, and we
almost certainly have something:
message us and ask.
Buy a sourced stone here, or message us for ours
A sourced diamond goes through the checkout on this site at the price shown, and that
price is everything landed in South Africa: the stone, VAT, getting it here, and the
card fee, in one number with nothing to add afterwards. The diamonds already in our
safe are not sold through the checkout, so
message us for those and we will
price them for you directly.
Any stone here can become a finished piece
A loose diamond is a starting point, not the end of it. Anything you find here can be
set into a ring, a pendant or earrings by the same bench that does all our own work.
Tell us what you have in your head, even roughly, when you
message us, and we will design
it around the stone rather than the other way round.
Whatever you are looking for, we will find it
Between the stones in our safe and everything our supply can reach, there is a diamond
here for what you want to spend. If you have not found it on this page, it is because we
have not spoken yet. Tell us the occasion, the budget and anything you already know they
like, and we will come back with real options and a straight opinion on each one.
Every diamond on this page is a natural diamond. We do not sell laboratory-grown stones,
and none appear in either view above.
Two ways to get your diamond
View our loose-diamond catalogue
Browse individual diamonds and ask which are available to view in Bedfordview. Some are cut on our bench; others are sourced through the trade. Confirm the stone and appointment before travelling.
Search matching certified stones from our supply partners, or send us your specification. We confirm the individual diamond, report, availability and VAT-inclusive written quote with you.
Ask us to quote any stone or ring and you get a firm figure in writing
within 24 hours, VAT inclusive, with the trade-offs explained in plain
English. It costs nothing and commits you to nothing: no deposit, no
account, no follow-up campaign. Worst case, you learned the honest
number and bought elsewhere better informed.
We actually want you to compare. Buying well means weighing options;
it is how we buy rough at the viewings, and it is how you should buy a
diamond. Bring any written quote and we will price it like-for-like,
and if we cannot beat it, we will tell you so bluntly. Either way you
leave knowing where you stand.
One more thing worth knowing: this site shows a selection of our stock,
never the full range. Far more passes across the bench than we ever
list, so if the exact stone or design you want is not here, ask us for
it. It is usually one message away.
Prefer to talk it through first? That works too. Tell us how you like
to be reached, and that is how we will reach you.
Natural diamonds only
We sell natural diamonds and diamond-set jewellery. Ask us about the grading report and available origin documentation for your chosen stone. Why we don’t sell lab-grown →
Independent grading reports
The grading laboratory is shown per stone. Review its report and the individual diamond before choosing; sourced examples can include GIA, EGL and IGI.
Insured delivery, SA & worldwide
Overnight across South Africa via Brink’s, G4S or our nominated jewellery courier. Insured worldwide dispatch via Ferrari Group and FedEx Custom Critical.
14-day in-person exchange
In-person sales at the viewing room come with a 14-day exchange courtesy on stock pieces. Distance-sale CPA cooling-off applies.
Compare the individual stone and recorded specifications.
The catalogue shows each diamond’s recorded grades, price or enquiry route,
and grading-report details where available. Ask us to confirm availability,
the full report and a viewing before you visit. If the right stone is not
listed, send us your specification for a sourcing quote.
Choose a loose diamond or request a complete jewellery quote
Prodiam is a diamond dealer and cutting house in Bedfordview, Johannesburg.
Some stones are cut in-house; others are sourced as polished diamonds through
the trade. This search helps you compare those sourcing options.
Review the individual laboratory report and ask for available photographs
or video. Confirm the actual stone before ordering. You can buy a
loose diamond or request a separate quote
to set it into a bespoke
engagement ring, a pendant or a
pair of earrings.
What the rand price includes
Search results show the loose diamond’s rand price including VAT,
sourcing delivery and payment costs. A jewellery setting is additional.
Confirm availability and the final written quote before committing;
dated example bands are labelled separately from individual search results.
We never display an invented or
placeholder price. If a diamond has no live price, it simply is
not listed, and you can always
send us the spec for a
hand-prepared quote.
Certified, natural, and verifiable
Prodiam works in natural, mined-Earth diamonds only (never
lab-grown), and every stone is independently certified so you can compare
like with like on the grades that matter: colour, clarity, cut, polish,
symmetry and fluorescence. Each listing names its laboratory, most
commonly GIA. You receive the full laboratory report when
you reserve the stone, and you can verify it yourself before you settle.
Ask which photographs, videos or light-performance images are available
for your chosen stone. GIA’s overall cut grade applies to standard round
brilliants in its D-to-Z range; fancy shapes need their own proportion
and appearance assessment. Read
the 4Cs of diamond grading and
how to read a GIA report
before you set your spec.
Sourcing a diamond: common questions
How does sourcing a diamond to my spec work?+
Set your shape, carat range, colour, clarity, cut, fluorescence and budget to compare matching natural diamonds. Check each stone’s laboratory, report, price and delivery estimate. A sourced listing is a diamond offered through the trade, not a promise that it is already in Bedfordview. Ask Prodiam to confirm the actual stone, current availability and written quote before committing. If it will become jewellery, request a separate quote for the setting and making.
Is the price I see the final price, in Rands?+
The search displays rand prices including VAT, sourcing delivery and payment costs. These are loose-diamond prices; a ring or other jewellery setting is additional and quoted separately. Confirm the selected stone, current availability, delivery and final written price with Prodiam before committing. Dated price examples elsewhere on the page describe their capture date and are not a current offer for a particular diamond.
Are the diamonds certified and natural?+
Yes. Prodiam sources natural, mined-Earth diamonds only, never lab-grown. Every stone carries its own independent laboratory report, most commonly GIA and otherwise IGI or HRD, and each listing states which. You receive the full report once you reserve the stone, and you can verify it yourself against that laboratory's own report-check service before you settle.
The site shows you only the certified grades, shape, carat, colour, clarity, cut, polish, symmetry and fluorescence, so you compare like with like.
Can you set my sourced diamond into jewellery?+
Yes. Ask for a complete quote for an engagement ring, pendant or other diamond-set piece around your chosen stone. The search lists polished diamonds; routine sourcing does not mean the stone needs to be cut again. Prodiam cuts diamonds in-house and also sources polished diamonds through the trade. Confirm the design, metal, setting, making, valuation and insured delivery in the finished-piece quote.
Extra photographs, video or light-performance images depend on what is available for that stone.
