Prodiam Trading CC is the customer-facing trading and finance arm (Suite F1W6). D and D Diamonds CC, trading as Procut DCW, is the manufacturing arm (Suite F1W6B). Both are Etkind-owned SA Closed Corporations at The Paragon, Bedfordview. Both run by Darren Lance Etkind.

What we do, and how we got here

Prodiam Trading is a licensed manufacturing and trading company, supplying polished diamonds and bespoke fine jewellery to a significant portion of the local market and a growing international one. Established and continuously trading for over 25 years. A confirmed member of the Diamond Dealers Club of South Africa.

We hold a substantial inventory of polished diamonds from 0.30 to 10 carats, in many shapes, colours, and clarities. Every stone is manufactured in-house at our sister company Procut DCW, which has been a De Beers Consolidated Mines (DBCM) Emerging Beneficiation Customer since 2019. Services extend from wholesale loose diamonds to bespoke manufacturing for private clients, insurance valuations and replacements, repolishing, and the buying of licensed rough.

The director

Darren Lance Etkind is the director and owner of Prodiam Trading CC, and the founder & director of D and D Diamonds CC (trading as Procut DCW). B.Comm in business economics from the University of the Witwatersrand. Self-employed director in the South African diamond trade since January 1995, with eight concurrent years (1995–2003) as Rough Diamond Buyer at Protea Diamonds. Three decades on, with De Beers DBCM Emerging Beneficiation Customer status held by D and D Diamonds CC since 2019, the supply chain is internalised: most of the rough comes through De Beers Johannesburg viewings, the rest from independent SA diggers and tender houses Darren has worked with since the Protea years; manufacturing happens at the bench in Bedfordview; trading and finance is held at Prodiam, all from the same building that houses GIA South Africa.
